Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and experienced assortment manager to join our dynamic team. As the Assortment Lead, you will play a key role in building and managing our unique assortment of sustainable household essentials. Your primary focus will be on sourcing products from local hero brands, organic and regenerative farmers, and curating a collection of the most innovative and environmentally friendly options. Additionally, you will be responsible for developing our private label and ensuring the implementation of our circular packaging initiatives.
Responsibilities
Assortment Development
Lead the development of Sunrise's assortment strategy, focusing on sourcing from local hero brands, organic and regenerative farmers, and identifying innovative sustainable products. Stay up to date with market trends, consumer preferences, and emerging eco-friendly technologies to continually enhance our product offerings.
Supplier Relationships
Cultivate strong relationships with local hero brands, organic and regenerative farmers, global game-changers and other suppliers who align with Sunrise's values and sustainability goals. Negotiate favorable terms and conditions, including pricing, quality standards, and supply chain logistics.
Product Sourcing and Evaluation
Identify and evaluate potential suppliers and products that meet Sunrise's sustainability criteria and quality standards. Conduct thorough due diligence, including assessing supplier practices, certifications, and ensuring compliance with ethical and environmental standards.
Assortment Curation
Curate a diverse and comprehensive assortment of sustainable household essentials, considering factors such as product quality, environmental impact, packaging materials, and customer demand. Continuously review and optimize the assortment to meet evolving market trends and customer preferences.
Private Label Development
Drive the development and implementation of Sunrise's private label products. Collaborate with suppliers, internal teams, and external partners to create exclusive and sustainable product offerings that align with Sunrise's brand values.
Circular Packaging Initiatives
Play a key role in implementing Sunrise's circular packaging strategy. Identify sustainable packaging solutions, collaborate with suppliers on packaging design and materials, and ensure compliance with circular economy principles.
Goodness Index Tech Collaboration
Collaborate with the tech team to build out the Goodness Index, Sunrise's proprietary supplier assessment tool. Provide insights and requirements to the tech team for the development and continuous improvement of the tool. Contribute to the evaluation and scoring methodology of suppliers based on sustainability, ethical, and social impact criteria.
Quality Control and Compliance
Establish quality control measures and ensure compliance with relevant regulations, certifications, and sustainability standards. Conduct regular product quality assessments and audits to maintain high standards across the assortment.
Market Analysis and Performance Monitoring
Conduct market analysis, competitor research, and consumer insights to identify opportunities for assortment expansion and improvement. Develop and track key performance indicators to measure the success and impact of the assortment strategy.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, sustainability, supply chain management, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
- Proven experience in product assortment management, preferably in a sustainability-focused organization or within the consumer goods industry.
- In-depth knowledge of sustainable sourcing practices, circular economy principles, and eco-friendly packaging solutions.
- Strong network and relationships with local hero brands, organic and regenerative farmers, and suppliers in the sustainable consumer goods industry.
- Understanding of sustainability certifications, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to conduct market research, analyze consumer trends, and make data-driven assortment decisions.
- Passion for sustainability, healthy living, and a commitment to driving positive environmental and social impact.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment with a high level of adaptability and resilience.
- Fluency in English is required, and proficiency in other European languages is a plus.
