The Role
The head of operations will have the opportunity to help build a high-profile startup from the ground up. Our team is moving fast and we’re looking for mission-driven talent with a bias for action and a drive to accelerate change. We’d prefer a creative, autonomous, and growth-minded builder that is willing to bring all they've got to disrupt and rebuild the very broken food industry with us. This is an “all hands on deck” lean team, and we’re looking for a hungry and driven individual who is willing to dedicate themselves to our mission, and has the desire to grow into an operations leadership role with us.
Tactically, this role will work directly alongside the COO to build out operations at Sunrise. Initially, this will include supporting category & inventory management, communicating with customers and suppliers, hiring & managing operations staff, and delivering orders on our cargo e-bike. The Operations Manager will be the face of Sunrise to our customers and will play a key role in delivering our mission to build the future of food.
There is equity ownership in Sunrise involved. We strongly prefer a candidate who is passionate about our mission and wants to stick with us for the long-term.
Responsibilities
- Lead inventory management, procurement, and fulfillment processes
- Develop and own relationships with suppliers
- Develop and implement processes to improve operations
- Hiring and managing operations staff
- Support other areas of the business as needed
- In the short-term, pick and deliver customer orders on our cargo e-bike (until sufficient operations staff is hired)
- Ensure highest level of customer service
- Help build Sunrise from the ground up
Minimum Qualifications
- Located in Amsterdam
- Prior experience in an operations / field ops / logistics
- Fluency in English is required (fluency in Dutch preferred but not required)
- Authorized to work in the Netherlands (no visa or work authorization required)
- Positive attitude and team player
- Highly flexible and adaptable to change
- Comfortable riding a cargo e-bike
- Able to start in April
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a related field
- Demonstrated passion for food, health, and sustainability
- Demonstrated experience optimizing and leading operational processes
- Demonstrated experience hiring and leading an effective team
- Advanced experience with spreadsheet/database programs (Excel, Airtable, Google Sheets) and familiarity using team collaboration software (Slack, Notion, Asana, Height, etc.)
- Entrepreneurial mindset and desire to grow into an operations leadership role with Sunrise
